My Story

What do you crave?

I was challenged by Power to Change Students to share my story online. At first, I was terrified by the idea of being so vulnerable in front of so many people. But, as I started to think about it, I began to realize how incredible it is that God has uniquely crafted each one of our stories. And, not even that, He has placed people into our lives that are going to be touched and impacted by our stories in ways that cannot be achieved by anyone else.

My story talks about my craving for approval and  how I tried to gain fulfillment of that craving through things of this world. Even when it seemed as though I was getting that approval I was looking for - it was always temporary. There is only one source of approval that never fails... and that is Jesus Christ. Even when I was actively turning away from Him, He loved me. It serves as a constant reminder that it is through Christ alone that I am made righteous - nothing I do can change the fact that I am a sinner and deserve separation from God. This love is beyond anything I can comprehend.

It is my prayer that this story will impact you in some way - that God will use it for His glory. I thank Him for giving me this unique story and am grateful for this opportunity to share it with you!

Apartment Hunting

So, with graduation soon approaching, Matt and I have started thinking more seriously about where we are going to live once we're married. Starting the search with absolutely no idea of what to look for can be a bit overwhelming. I think we've been able to narrow down what we're looking for to the following description:
  • 2 bedrooms
  • Less than $850/month including utilities
  • Either a low-rise apartment (1-6 units) or a basement apartment
  • Nice, quiet area close to bus route and uptown area
Those are the big things, I think. Ideally we'd like one with a pretty nice bathroom and kitchen (with all appliances included). And we LOVE older Victorian-style places with interior brick and dark hardwood floors... fireplaces, big windows, arched doorways... but that's just dreaming. All in all, I'm just excited at the thought of sharing a place with Matt. And not only that - I'm excited at the thought of decorating! Hopefully we get a place that we are able to paint and make our own a bit. Pintrest, the ultimate reason for my productivity failure, is full of great little ideas for our apartment.

This closet office (above), for example, is a great way to create more space in a cramped room. I like the idea of being able to tuck-away the clutter too.

I am in love with this!!

We love the look of this loft apartment. Obviously we aren't going to be able to find something like this, but we like how cozy it looks - especially the interior brick!

98 Days And Counting!

So the 100 day mark has officially been crossed! Only 98 days until I am married to my best friend, Matthew Leger. For the past two months, I have been up to my neck in wedding planning - dresses, invitations, flowers, centerpieces... It's been fun, but now that most of the big things are at out of the way, I'm just ready to get married! I used to think that a 6 month engagement was cutting it close, but I'm realizing now that it is more than enough time to plan a wedding.

My mom and I are working away at the wedding invitations right now. We decided to make them from scratch to save some money and, even though its taking longer than we originally thought, they're turning out pretty good!

We made our own stamp by cutting out pieces from different stamp designs and putting them together on a clear stamp block. From there, we printed the text onto card stock and put the stamp onto the bottom using purple ink. Then we backed the card onto decorative purple paper. This is just the ceremony invitation. The end result will include a separate smaller reception card that will be attached to the invitation with a silver ribbon. We've also added a silver lining to all of the envelopes to tie it all together.

I'm anxious to get these done and send them all out!
